Do Ancestral Themes Predict Your Destiny?

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

I have often observed how family stories repeated by a parent, grand-parent or family elder when one is a child, lay buried deep as a compass for their future development. One grand-parent was fond of telling her young grand-daughters the story of “Chicken Little”. Hundreds of times they heard the line, “the sky is falling, the sky is falling ….who will help me bake the bread? No-one will help me bake the bread!”

Is it any wonder that when these girls became women, they lived lives of ongoing struggle; becoming accomplished in their careers but living much of their sleep- deprived lives as single parents juggling their responsibilities and truly believing that no partner would ever be available for support and companionship?

If you feel that you are not living up to your potential, or are stuck in repetitive, self-defeating patterns…reflect on the story or advice you may have frequently heard as a child and notice if it has become your limiting belief. We can create a new theme.
